The recital was only last Sunday, but the story of how it came to happen began long before that. One week in mid-June, Peter and I played a movement of Vivaldi's "Spring" Concerto as a prelude piece before the 5 o'clock Mass on Saturday, and finished with a postlude of the third movement of Bach's Violin Concerto |

Last Sunday, Peter Douglas and I gave our second in a series of 'Four Seasons' recitals, entitled "The Joy Of Spring". The program consisted of: J.S. Bach: E Major Violin Concerto (all movements) Mozart: Rondo Concertante in B-flat Major - with cadenzas I wrote myself, yay! Ginastera: Piano Sonata (first movement) Schubert: Am Bach im Fruhling (By the Brook in Spring) Wieniawski: Legende Vivaldi: Concerto in E Major, "Spring" (all movements) Beethoven: Sonata No. 5 for Violin and Piano, "Spring" (first movement) There was a small but wonderful crowd gathered in the Church of the Epiphany in Euclid, and it was an amazing afternoon for everyone - myself and the audience alike. It was a reminder that it's not just flowers and more sunshine that make spring joyful, but music, too. |
