Tom Galbraith and Jan Hudson - members of the Fossil Creek bluegrass band - and I all went mostly as a promotional tool, as we'd bought a booth in the Exhibition Hall. It's hard to say early on what you get out of a booth, at least in terms of future gig engagements, but we certainly met a lot of interesting and fun people there!
IBMA - short for International Bluegrass Music Association, and nickname of their huge yearly "meeting"... Which, of course, in case you've never been there, means every bluegrasser who can be there comes to jam with fellow musicians - friends and strangers alike - see their new and/or favorite bluegrass acts perform, and to promote their band, festival, products, etc. As they say, 'see one thing, miss a hundred other things'; and it's true.
